What is Traveling Recreational Youth Soccer?
Tampa Area Recreational Scheduling Association (TARSA) offers and promotes league play for girls and boys teams who want to compete locally against other area youth soccer clubs. The league offers friendly competition, an opportunity to develop soccer skills and establish lasting friendships. Age groups typically available are Girls under - 8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18 divisions and boys (or Coed) U-12, U14, U16 and U18.
RSL fields teams in an age group based on the number of players we have who come out to play and whether or not our coaching staff feels a team can reasonably compete within the division. At times, competing clubs are not able to form a team at a particular age group and therefore the league does not offer the division. Our goal is to find a team for all players to be a part of.
Traveling Rec teams generally practice twice a week with games on Saturdays. Travel to competing clubs is typically within a half hour drive of our own fields. Traveling Rec teams will usually have a parent coach however paid trainers with advanced skills and knowledge of the game will be identified to help with the team if desired.
Why Play Traveling Recreational Youth Soccer?
Traveling Rec is a great alternative for older players who want to continue playing beyond the Developmental and In-House Rec programs currently offered by the RSL, but are not ready for or do not want to make the commitment to a Competitive Team.
Traveling Recreational vs In-House Recreational
The RSL In-House Recreational Program does not field teams at older age groups and does not travel to other area clubs. Those wanting a little more competition join a TARSA team, while younger players typically (U8/9) play in our In-House Rec league and then either make the jump to Competitive or form Recreational teams that play in TARSA.
